2nd year medical student preparing for boards less than 3.5 months until my step1/comlex

Hi

I think I am going to start updating my study progress so I can learn to study more inefficiently.

So school ends ~May 5th and then I will have about 5-6 weeks of full time studying for my exam.

Right now I am doing well in my medical school classes averaging 90% in most of my classes... well there is that one time I completely blanked out a got a 65% in pharmacology. oops and this is why I am going to master sketchypharm. JUST YOU WAIT!

Here are some self reflections:
- I am doing well in school, I have a system
- I am still attending all my classes like a good student.
- I am doing terrible in my board prep. <--- yikes?

Why am I doing bad in my board prep?
- AMBOSS self assessment score shows that I am currently at 188 (fail), well I took the 4 hours exam in 2 hours haha but still I don't know my stuff
- I don't remember learning anything my first year of medical school. So I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge. This is super bad....

How can I improve?
- I thought I could rewatch every single boards and beyond videos to like relearn anything. BUT i realize this is not necessary, I don't have time!
- When I was doing uworld questions I had an insight! I realized that most of the questions I got wrong isn't because I didn't understand the material, mechanism but because I forgot one fact.

SOOOO moving forward I am going to watch continue watch pathoma, sketchymicro and sketchy pharm (side note I ask my classmate what is the secret to mastering sketchy pharm and she whispered "you watch it 5 times" okay sister lol) BUT most importantly I am going to read the FREAKING FIRST AID BOOK and write down random ass facts that I can't remember on a flashcards and review that everyday! or whenever I am bored. Plus I have to start doing questions I am thinking 40 uworld and 50 comlex on a week day and 80 uworld and 100 comlex on the weekend. AND I am going to write down facts that I don't know from the questions to look it up later

Things that really helped
- So earlier this 2020, I was extremely week in microbiology and I sketchymicro it up and now micro is like super easy!
- So we know sketchymicro works! pls pray sketchypharm also works. BC your girl needs to master pharm
- Pathoma is really good too!!
- My high yield notes I got from my usmle coach (I will let you know if he works)

In conclusion...
my schedule should be for the next 3 weeks
- sketchy micro
- HY notes read
- 40 uworld questions
- review + flashcards
----------------------------------------------------
- sketchy pharm
- HY notes read
- 50 combank questions
- review + flashcard
----------------------------------------------------
- pathoma
- read first aid + flashcards
- review flashcards
-----------------
- gojian audio

and if I am really confused I watch board and beyond...
and when I am done with sketchy pharm, micro, and pathoma I will loop it 5 more times or something.

My ultimate goal is be in the passing range by april 2nd, after that I will rewatch boards and beyond to nail in the concepts and get like a 240+ LOL

Oct 2019

Hello,

I guess I should at least update once a year hehe.

So right now I am in my second year of medical school. I know right? Time skip.
First year was interesting, second year is great because I am learning all the interesting stuff.

I think I changed a lot since undergrad.

- I no longer work so I forget the value of money
- I study a lot more than I did in my life
- I have Invisalign now
- I have been dating my boyfriend for almost 4 years (met him at the unurban cafe)
- I learned how to study

June 2020 I have a really big exam for medical school called the step 1(usmle) and the complex.
They say it will basically determine my future but we will see. hehe

Next blog I will update my study routine.

Preview: study smart not hard

June 2017 - May 2018: intermission while I wait for medical school results, like apply again if you think you won't make it.
Aug 2018: start medical school if things work out (hello 24 years old maique) <-- u old
Aug 2018 - 2022: medical school? hello 28 years old maique <-- so old
maybe I should get married somewhere between 24 - 28 hehe, i jk
